March 3, 2010 - Foundation Care Pharmacy’s immunization services are a huge success!

In October of 2009, Foundation Care opened its doors to their first flu vaccine customers! Being the first pharmacy in St. Louis to receive the H1N1 vaccine, Foundation Care’s immunization certified pharmacists were able to administer both the seasonal flu vaccine as well as the H1N1 vaccine.

Over a year ago, Foundation Care’s pharmacists expanded their knowledge base by taking part in an immunization certification program through the American Pharmacists Association. With a staff of five pharmacists and one nurse, Foundation Care pharmacy launched a seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccine campaign.

During this campaign, Foundation Care not only offered vaccinations to walk-in customers, but also provided on-site flu clinics to local area businesses. To date, in their first season, Foundation Care has administered over 2,000 vaccines!

“By offering convenient, affordable access to the flu vaccines, we helped keep the St. Louis community healthy throughout the flu season. We are thrilled that our first season was such a success,” Rebecca Hefele, RPh, Director of Specialty Programs.

Foundation Care hopes to continue growing their immunization services by offering a wide range of immunizations such as Hepatitis A & B, travel vaccinations, and more!
