Foundation Care receives DMEPOS Accreditation from the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA)

September 1, 2009 - Foundation Care, St. Louis, Missouri, a pharmacy serving patients locally and nationally, has achieved the DMEPOS Award of Accreditation from the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA), based in Waterloo, Iowa. This award is achieved only when a pharmacy like Foundation Care, offering home medical equipment, demonstrates a high level of quality practices in their business operations and patient care techniques. Foundation Care earned the three-year accreditation after completing a comprehensive application that focuses on patient care, financial stability, and a commitment to quality operational practices and procedures. Accreditation by the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA) assures Medicare and other payers that the highest levels of quality are practiced within all areas of the company.

DMEPOS - Section 302 of the Medicare Modernization Act required the CMS Secretary to establish and implement quality standards for suppliers of Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS). All suppliers that furnish Durable Medical Equipment (DME), prosthetic devices, prosthetics, or orthotic items or services must comply with the quality standards in order to receive Medicare Part B payments and to retain a supplier billing number.
